Published May 19, 2025

Expanding Production Capabilities

Gelest Inc., a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Group, has recently launched a state-of-the-art 50,000ft² production plant at their headquarters in Morrisville, PA. This significant expansion underscores Gelest's commitment to meeting the growing demand for specialty materials across multiple advanced markets. Explore more about Gelest's new facility.

Focus on Innovation for Advanced Materials

The new facility is set to enhance Gelest's production capabilities, particularly focusing on precursor chemicals vital for dry resist EUV lithography—an essential technology for next-generation logic and DRAM advancements. Edward Kimble, senior business director, emphasizes Gelest’s strategic movement towards addressing key material applications needed in microelectronics and medical devices.

Technological and Environmental Commitment

Strategically located on a revitalized EPA Brownfield site, the facility incorporates a 3000ft² ISO 7 cleanroom, ensuring high standards for manufacturing and quality control. This setup not only strengthens Gelest's production capabilities but also aligns with Mitsubishi Chemical Group’s commitment to innovation and sustainable development.

Supporting the US and Global Supply Chains

Jonathan Goff, business VP of the Advanced Solutions Domain, highlights the plant's role in supporting both US and global supply chains for critical materials. The facility’s ability to cater to current and next-generation materials reinforces Gelest’s position as a key player in specialty chemicals.

Expanding Corporate Footprint

With the addition of this facility, Gelest’s operation now spans nine buildings in Morrisville, eight of which are on-site, indicating their steady expansion since establishing the headquarters in 2001. This growth trajectory not only signifies their commitment to addressing advanced market needs but also boosts the local economy.

In conclusion, Gelest’s new production plant stands as a testament to its commitment to innovation and capacity expansion in the specialty chemicals sector, further securing its role in advancing technologies in critical markets like microelectronics and medical devices.
