Dolphin Semiconductor and Ingenic Partner to Power Next-Gen IPC Applications

On February 26, 2025, Dolphin Semiconductor announced a strategic collaboration with Ingenic Semiconductor, a leading Chinese fabless semiconductor company, to deliver high-performance Low Dropout (LDO) regulators in TSMC’s 22nm process for Internet Protocol Camera (IPC) applications. This partnership underscores Dolphin’s growing influence in the semiconductor IP market and highlights the increasing demand for energy-efficient, reliable power management solutions in advanced imaging systems.

A Strategic Collaboration

Dolphin Semiconductor, a France-based provider of mixed-signal IP solutions, specializes in power management, high-quality audio, power metering, and design robustness. Its LDO regulators, tailored for low-power scenarios, are designed to enhance stability and performance in high-performance applications like IPCs. Ingenic, headquartered in Beijing and publicly listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange since 2011, is a key player in high-performance System-on-Chip (SoC) design, with a strong focus on consumer electronics, automotive, and AIoT markets.

The partnership sees Dolphin supplying Ingenic with LDO regulators optimized for IPC applications, which require precise power regulation to support advanced imaging and processing capabilities. Silvia Yan, COO at Ingenic, praised Dolphin’s contribution, stating, “Dolphin’s LDOs precisely meet our technical specifications in low-power scenarios. We work together to make our product highly competitive in the low-power applications, and we are extremely grateful for Dolphin’s professional and great support.”

Meeting the Needs of IPC Applications

IP cameras, critical for security, surveillance, and smart home systems, demand robust power management to ensure stable operation and low power consumption. Dolphin’s LDO regulators address these needs by providing reliable voltage regulation, which is essential for the high-resolution imaging and real-time processing capabilities of modern IPCs. Hakim Jaafar, VP of Marketing & Support at Dolphin Semiconductor, emphasized, “Our collaboration with Ingenic underscores our shared commitment to reliability, precision, and optimized power efficiency—key factors in semiconductor design that drive real-world performance.”

By integrating Dolphin’s LDOs, Ingenic aims to enhance the performance and energy efficiency of its IPC semiconductor solutions, positioning its products as competitive offerings in the rapidly growing smart camera market. This collaboration builds on Ingenic’s expertise in SoC design and its 2020 acquisition of ISSI, which bolstered its capabilities in memory, analog, and interconnect technologies for automotive and industrial applications.

Dolphin Semiconductor’s Growing Momentum

This partnership is part of Dolphin Semiconductor’s broader strategy to expand its footprint in high-growth markets like IoT, automotive, and consumer electronics. The company, which recently relocated its headquarters to Montreal, Canada, following a €26 million investment from Jolt Capital, is leveraging its expertise in energy-efficient IP solutions to meet the needs of a connected world. Dolphin’s focus on sustainability, evidenced by its Solar Impulse Efficient Solution label, aligns with the industry’s push for greener technologies.

Dolphin’s collaboration with Ingenic follows its recent partnership with Sofics to deliver advanced IP solutions for IoT, wireless, and automotive applications, further solidifying its role as a trusted partner in the semiconductor ecosystem. With a team of over 132 professionals and a customer-centric approach, Dolphin is well-positioned to drive innovation in power management and mixed-signal IP design.

The Road Ahead

The Dolphin Semiconductor-Ingenic partnership highlights the critical role of specialized IP solutions in enabling cutting-edge technologies. As the demand for IP cameras and other IoT devices continues to surge, collaborations like this one are poised to shape the future of energy-efficient, high-performance electronics. Ingenic’s commitment to ongoing cooperation with Dolphin suggests a long-term relationship that could yield further advancements in low-power SoC designs.

This collaboration not only strengthens Dolphin’s position in the global semiconductor IP market but also reinforces China’s growing influence in high-performance SoC design. As both companies continue to innovate, their partnership serves as a model for how strategic alliances can address industry challenges while delivering value to customers and advancing sustainable technology.
